| Qualifications for this position: | *A High School Diploma or equivalent
*Teacher assistant training through a recognized diploma or certificate program, or an equivalent training program
(i.e. - CCA, ECE, LPN)
*Must have practicum experience as part of the recognized program, or a minimum of three years on the job experience, with additional course work and/or attendance at workshops in child studies and personal care
*Good health to provide personal and physical care to students
*Current certification in CPR and First Aid
*Current certification in non-violent crisis intervention
*Sufficient knowledge of subject matter to assist the student in the classroom
*Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
*Education and training in the use of assistive technology, including computers, will be considered an asset
*Experience and demonstrated ability in managing children or youth with exceptional needs will be considered an asset |
