| Additional Information: | RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ÿ To assist the principal in taking all reasonable steps to secure full and regular attendance at school of the students enrolled in accordance with policies established by the school board;
Ÿ To assist the principal in providing instructional leadership for all school programs and services;
Ÿ To assist in the completion of required documents as requested by the school board and/or the Department of Education and Culture;
Ÿ To assist in the identification of staffing needs for the school and to assist in the selection of staff;
Ÿ To assist in maintenance of financial records;
Ÿ To ensure that appropriate evaluation techniques are used for both students and staff;
Ÿ To assist in the maintenance of a system to handle organizational tasks such as student records, teacher records, attendance, purchasing, budgets and timetables;
Ÿ To assist in the hiring of substitute teachers as necessary;
Ÿ To ensure the security of the school building;
Ÿ To perform other such tasks as are assigned from time to time by the principal of the school. |
| Standard qualifications for ALL Teaching positions: |
- Valid teacher certification (BTC / TC 5 / ITC or greater) for the Province of Nova Scotia;
- Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition;
- Excellent classroom and student management skills;
- Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning;
- Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies

| Essential Qualifications: | Ÿ Master of Education in Administration/Administrative Block Program, or currently enrolled/willing to pursue Educational Administration studies; Ÿ Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in a public school; Ÿ The ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, community, and outside agencies to better meet the needs of students in the school and to use appropriate communication modes including current technologies |
